Abstract
ABSTRACT This article discusses how intellectual property rights can be used to safeguard computer software.In the past, the idea of intellectual property rights was divided into two categories: industrial property and copyright. Patents, trademarks, industrial designs, and source-location indications are all examples of industrial property. Copyright protections extend to works of art, music, and literature. Software as a notion was not protected by IPR. Computer software started to receive protection under the IPR system as a result of the expansion and development of the internet in society. Both copyright and patent law offer protection to software. Computer software is protected by copyright if it is an original work and does not have any connections to technological function. However, if the computer software demonstrated an inventive step and was fit for industrial use, a patent may be granted.
