Abstract
Introduction: This study explores the impact of hearing aid use on the quality of life in elderly populations with hearing loss. Hearing impairment is a prevalent issue among older adults and can significantly affect various aspects of well-being, including social interactions, emotional well-being, and overall satisfaction with life. Understanding the relationship between hearing aid use and quality of life indicators is essential for optimizing interventions and support for elderly individuals with hearing loss. Aims and Objectives: The study aims to investigate the impact of hearing aid use on quality of life in elderly populations through a questionnaire-based approach. Specific objectives include assessing the relationship between hearing aid usage and quality of life indicators, exploring the experiences and challenges of elderly individuals using hearing aids, and identifying factors influencing the effectiveness of hearing aid interventions in improving quality of life. Methodology: A cross-sectional questionnaire-based design was employed to collect data from 150 participants aged 65 and above, diagnosed with hearing loss, and using hearing aids. The structured questionnaire included sections on demographic information, hearing aid usage patterns, quality of life assessments, and open-ended questions to capture qualitative insights. Results and Discussion: The results revealed significant positive correlations between the duration of hearing aid use and overall satisfaction with life among participants. Qualitative analysis identified themes such as improved communication, social engagement, and emotional well-being associated with hearing aid use. Challenges such as device adjustments and stigma were also reported. Conclusion: The study highlights the importance of promoting sustained hearing aid use to enhance quality of life and well-being in elderly populations with hearing loss.
