Abstract
In pretending as a vital link between psychology and the legal system, forensic psychology makes it easier to comprehend and apply psychological concepts in criminal investigations. This article explores the many techniques and instruments used in forensic psychology, such as hypnosis, polygraph examinations, brain electrical oscillation testing (BEOS), deceit detection, and narcoanalysis. The ideas, tools, and legal ramifications of each approach are examined, emphasizing their functions in criminal profiling and investigation. The paper also looks at the complexities of mental and personality illnesses, grouping them into different groups and analyzing how they affect criminal behavior. The usefulness of criminal profiling in focused investigations, risk assessment, and resource optimization is highlighted, underscoring its significance. An extensive synopsis of the criminal profiling process is given, including the steps involved in gathering data and apprehending suspects. The essay also discusses societal factors that influence criminal behavior and offers early intervention and preventive strategies to lower youth criminality. In addition, the efficacy of forensic psychology in India is assessed, taking into account both the field's obstacles and developments.A Ted Bundy case study is provided to show how forensic psychology can be used to analyze and profile criminal behavior. The study emphasizes how important it is to provide mental health services and early intervention for those with personality problems in order to stop potential criminal activity. All things considered, this article offers a thorough analysis of the function of forensic psychology in the criminal justice system, providing insights into the methods of psychological evaluation and profiling that support the investigation of criminal cases and improve public safety.
