The aim of this work was to develop a hair-setting cosmeceutical pomade containing oil from A. indica Juss. for effective topical delivery for the treatment of dandruff. The hair-setting pomade was prepared by the fusion method. Four types of pomade formulations containing stiffening agents (beeswax) in varying concentrations ranging from 6.25 to 10% were prepared and evaluated. The evaluation of all the formulations (BW1 to BW4) was done on various parameters like physical appearance, pH, viscosity, spreadability, extrudability, homogeneity, grittiness, and stability. The batch BW2 containing 7.5% beeswax possessed desirable spreadability as well as holding capacity. The final cosmeceutical pomade contains oil from A. indica Juss. (neem oil) was found to be shiny in appearance as well as homogenous in nature with no grittiness. The coffee cream color of the pomade is due to the addition of oil from A. indica Juss. also has the characteristic jasmine-like odor with a smooth texture. The cosmeceutical pomade had a good spreadability with pH 5.8 which is compatible with the pH of the scalp and hair so that it shows no irritancy. The cosmeceutical hair pomade shows good washability.
