The purpose of this study was to identify tourist difficulties and potential for tourism development in Hadiya Zone, east Badawacho Woreda. To achieve the study's goal, both primary and secondary data were collected using qualitative and quantitative methodologies. 4 tourism destinations and 100 sample households were chosen using purposeful and stratified simple random selection approaches, respectively. When appropriate, quantitative data was evaluated using frequency, percentage, and mean, while qualitative data was used to triangulate and authenticate the study. The tourism potential of the research area, which has the ability to build the tourism sector, was investigated. On the other hand, the study discovered various factors that point to the need for improvement and a concerted effort. Challenges for tourism development in the study area included a lack of visitor safety, a lack of infrastructure development, a lack of community awareness toward tourism, a lack of ensuring tourism products, a lack of promotion and marketing, a lack of collaboration among stakeholders, a limited role of government, a limited role of NGOs, a lack of training institutions, and a lack of contribution from the host community. On the other hand, various prospects such as strategic site location, tourism potential, tourism policy, and host community hospitality were recognized as success factors for tourism growth in the research area. The study's findings and suggestions look into ways to improve and strengthen the capacity of local governments and other stakeholders to promote the tourism industry in the study area.
