Cryptology, or secure communication science, has grown in importance in the setting of the Internet of Things (IoT). As more devices connect to the internet, the necessity for secure communication between these devices and their respective networks becomes increasingly important. Cryptography provides the tools and techniques required for secure communication between IoT devices. Cryptology theory encompasses a wide range of cryptographic primitives, such as symmetric key encryption, public key encryption, digital signatures, and hash functions. These primitives serve as the foundation for secure IoT communication protocols. Yet, because IoT devices are resource constrained, creating and implementing safe protocols in the IoT is difficult. As a result, researchers have devised lightweight cryptographic methods appropriate for IoT devices. In addition to theory, this paper investigates the applications of cryptology in IoT. These applications include safe communication between IoT devices, authentication of IoT devices, and secure storage of IoT data. The study also examines the obstacles and future research objectives in the realm of IoT cryptology.
