The main objective of this project is to design an Areca Nut Drone for reaping the areca nuts. This project helps the farmers monitor large or small farms of Areca Nuts and pluck the areca nuts from the trees without any manual labor. An unmanned Micro Aerial Vehicle or Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), popularly known as Drone, is an airborne system or an aircraft operated remotely by a human operator or autonomously by an onboard computer. In this proposed technology, we have designed an Areca Nut Drone for reaping.
This Areca Nut reaping drone is manually operated. Once the drone takes off into the farm, the drone goes towards the Areca Nut trees. As it reaches the first tree, it takes pictures of the areca nuts for image processing and analyzing where the stem is present.
Once the drone analyses where the stem is, the arm structure present in the drone holds on to the stem of the Areca Nut. After this, the drone starts moving in the opposite direction that is away from the tree in order to pull the areca nuts so that they detach from the tree and fall to the ground.
This drone helps the farmers in saving time spent on plucking the areca nuts. They don’t have to invest in manual labor or in areca nut tree climbers because they are time-consuming.
In the case of a man, he has to always get down the tree after plucking the areca nuts and go to the next tree to pluck the next set of areca nuts.
Whereas in the case of a tree climber, it should manually be detached from the tree after plucking the areca nuts and clamped to the next tree to pluck the next set of areca nuts.
