Pollution of the environment is today a worldwide issue. One of the major air pollutants is toxic emissions from internal combustion engines.
Purpose: Electric vehicles (EVs) are being vigorously marketed all over the world in order to offset the impacts of fossil fuel emissions and solve environmental concerns (ECs). Various governments are incentivizing the transition to EVs in order to encourage individuals to make the changeover.
Design/methodology/approach: Previous research has found that the expensive cost of an electric car, the lack of charging infrastructure, and time and range anxiety all operate as barriers to customer adoption. The Government of India has called for 'only Electric Vehicles' to be used on Indian roads by 2030. This article is current and investigates the many aspects that influence a consumer's adoption of an EV.
Findings: The study's respondents are either current automobile owners or are looking to buy a car in India. Environmental degradation, global warming, and oil reliance are all widespread issues. EV market penetration is currently low, despite several governments undertaking aggressive promotion measures.
Originality/value: This study provides a thorough assessment of studies on consumer preferences for EVs, with the goal of better-informing policymakers and directing future research. We begin by contrasting the economic and psychological approaches to this problem, followed by a conceptual framework of EV preferences, which is then used to organize our review.
