This study aims to investigate the extent of domestic violence against men in Patna, India, with a focus on psycho-social factors. Although there has been significant research on domestic violence against women, there is a dearth of research on violence against men, particularly in the Indian context. A total of 40 male participants who had cohabited with their partners for a minimum of 5 years were recruited for the study. The study employed a mixed-methods approach, including quantitative and qualitative methods, to examine the prevalence, types, and consequences of domestic violence experienced by men. A mixed-methods approach, including a structured questionnaire and semi-structured interviews, was used to gather data on the prevalence, types, and consequences of domestic violence against men. The findings suggest that domestic violence against men is a pervasive issue in Patna, with emotional abuse being the most common form of violence experienced by participants. The study also reveals that domestic violence has a significant impact on the psycho-social wellbeing of male victims, including low self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. The study concludes with recommendations for policymakers, service providers, and stakeholders to develop gender-sensitive interventions to address the issue of domestic violence against men and promote gender equity and social justice.
