Abstract
This paper examines the impact of progressive taxation on social inequality. We investigate the extent to which increasing tax progressivity, through mechanisms such as higher marginal tax rates on top incomes and wealth taxes, contributes to a reduction in income and wealth disparities. Our findings suggest [briefly state key findings, e.g., a statistically significant negative relationship between tax progressivity and Gini coefficients], highlighting the crucial role of progressive tax policies in fostering more equitable societies. We discuss the implications of these results for contemporary debates on fiscal policy and social justice.
