Abstract
Digital technology has been used to greatly transform the healthcare industry by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of hospital functioning. The digital transformation of the operations of a hospital has to do with the introduction of technologies like Electronic Health Records (EHRs), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), telemedicine, data analytics, and cloud computing in the healthcare processes. These technologies can assist hospitals in maximizing resources, delivering high-quality patient care, cutting down on expenses, and making informed decisions. This paper aims to discuss the impact of digital transformation on hospital management, such as hospital registration, appointment scheduling, inventory management, clinical documentation, and supply chain management. The study uses a conceptual and secondary data approach to literature review, reports and case studies on the implementation of digital healthcare. The results highlight the benefits of digital technologies for increased efficiency in workflow, shorter waiting times, improved communication between health professionals and increased satisfaction for patients. Additionally, predictive analytics and data-driven decision making can help hospitals better predict patient needs and make informed decisions on resource allocation. While digital transformation offers numerous benefits, it also comes with a host of challenges, including cybersecurity concerns, a lack of staff training, the push back from staff and high implementation costs. Successful digital transformation is the result of strategic planning, technological infrastructure and organizational commitment, the study concludes. With the changing landscape in healthcare, digital transformation will be vital in enhancing the operational performance and providing quality healthcare services.
