Abstract
As cities expand and the land available for conventional farming shrinks, soilless growing methods such as hydroponics have drawn renewed attention as a way to keep food production close to where people live. Running a hydroponic system well, however, depends on tracking nutrient concentration, pH, and several environmental variables at once, a task that most beginners find hard to learn from a conventional two dimensional dashboard. This paper sets out a framework, Agri XR Hydro Twin, that links Internet of Things (IoT) sensing, digital twin modelling, and extended reality (XR) so that a physical hydroponic system can be viewed and manipulated as an interactive three dimensional model. The same digital twin is then placed inside a shared metaverse space, where a conversational AI assistant and a set of gamified tasks are meant to help newcomers learn the system without outside guidance. The paper surveys prior research on agricultural digital twins, immersive data visualization, and gamified training platforms, identifies where this research leaves a gap, and proposes a four layer architecture, physical hydroponics, cloud and IoT connectivity, the digital twin, and the immersive XR and gamified learning interface, to close it. Literature comparison, system diagrams, and a working data pipeline description are provided to support the design.
