A groundbreaking initiative, the Digital India and E-Governance Mission aims to connect rural areas to high-speed internet networks, strengthen India's digital economy, and encourage digital inclusion. The Public Internet Access Programme is one of the main pillars of Digital India and offers a number of benefits. ‘Digital India’ is the creative concept of Mr. Narendra Modi's administration. The Government of India launched a flagship progrmme ‘Digital India’ programme on 1st July, 2015, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with the aim of making transforming India into a digitally empowered society and a knowledge economy. The Indian government has taken the initiative to integrate government agencies with Indian citizens. It aims to ensure that citizens can access government services electronically and reduce the amount of paperwork. Everywhere in India, from small towns to large cities, high-speed internet will be accessible with the aid of this plan, allowing people to finish their work online. EKYEC will help with the Self Service Zone's 24/7 operation, which will offer all the services people require, such as the ability to print passbooks, pay taxes, pay bills, open check deposits, use credit and debit cards, and access internet banking.Under the e-RUPI scheme, the funds are transferred straight to the beneficiaries' bank accounts. This digital service was launched by the Minister of Health and Family Welfare, the Department of Finance Services, and the National Health Authority. With the help of digital technology, this initiative seeks to transform the country into a knowledge economy. The concept aims to improve digital literacy and connect rural areas to high-speed internet networks. The broad category of online business operations involving goods and services is known as electronic commerce. This paper's objective is to highlight the different challenges that the Digital India Program has faced. The program's numerous opportunities for the country's citizens are also explained.
