Abstract
Introduction: Children are the important aspect of society. They built the future of nation. During the school going period it is the initial stage a child starts developing attitude towards self as an individual and also towards society in their own way. It is the time from when child’s physical, mental and social development starts developing. Behavioral problem is defined as behavior, thought or feelings differ quantitatively from the norm and as the result of this difference the child is either, suffering significantly or development is being significantly impaired. Objectives: 1. To assess the knowledge of primary school teachers regarding identification and management of behavioral disorders in children.2. To evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching program on knowledge regarding identification and management of behavioral disorders in children among primary school teachers. 3. To find the association of level of knowledge regarding identification and management of behavioral disorders in children and selected demographic variables. Material and methods: A pre-experimental study was done. The study was conducted in selected schools of Varanasi. 70 samples were selected by convenient sampling technique. The tool designed to collect the data were Socio demographic Performa and Structured knowledge questionnaire. Result: A total of 70 primary school teachers were studied. The study reveals that that the post-test mean score was higher than the pre-test mean score. The pre-test mean score was 2.22±0.38 and post-test mean score was 3.02±0.96. Conclusion: The knowledge of primary school teachers regarding identification and management of childhood behavioral disorders was very less in the pre-test and they were not aware of some behavioral disorders but subsequently the knowledge increases after the delivery of educational program. So there be more emphasis on increasing the knowledge of teachers through various in-service programs, or learning activities should be planned.
