Abstract
Abstract: Background: One of the most important times in a woman's life is during her pregnancy. It is associated with a wide range of physiological and biomechanical changes. These modifications cause a variety of musculoskeletal problems. While lumbar and pelvic girdle pain are two distinct types of low back pain, some women suffer from both at the same time. Ergonomic setup, domestic chores, and the fact that these women live in underprivileged locations all contribute to a lack of ergonomic knowledge. As a result, this study examined the presence of pain in the lower back and pelvic girdle in pregnant women. Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate Low Back Pain and Pelvic Girdle Pain in pregnant women in rural areas. Procedure: Pregnant females from various areas of Rural Konkan were evaluated based on inclusion and exclusion criteria with the NPRS (Numerical Pain Rating Scale) and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI). Pregnant women were given a detailed explanation regarding the special test and the questionnaire, and the further procedure was carried out by interpreting the findings from the test. Result: Women reported low back pain at a rate of 58.7%, pelvic girdle discomfort at a rate of 10.0%, and both at 31.3%. 10.0% displayed no disability, 12.5% mild disability, 60% intermediate disability, and 17.5% severe disability. Conclusion: This study concluded that more than half of the pregnant women experienced low back pain at the time of examination, and the remaining pregnant women experienced pelvic girdle pain. Low back pain was more prominent among women with 1st trimester. Pelvic girdle pain was more prominent among women in the 2nd trimester.
