Abstract

ABSTRACT LOPEZ, VENUS A., Central Mindanao University, May 2025, Work Life Balance and Instructionl Strategies on Workload Management This study aimed to assess the levels of work-life balance, instructional strategies utilization, and workload management among teachers in the Division of Bukidnon, Dangcagan District. Specifically, it examined teachers’ satisfaction with family and self-life, role overload, awareness of work-life balance, job satisfaction, and self-appreciation of work. It also evaluated the use of differentiated instruction, technology-aided instruction, and visual strategies, as well as the extent of engagement in non-teaching, support, and administrative activities. Furthermore, the study explored the relationships between these variables and identified which factors best predict workload management. Using a quantitative descriptive-correlational research design, data were collected through structured questionnaires distributed to Grade Four teachers. Descriptive statistics revealed that teachers generally experienced moderate to high levels of work-life balance, with positive perceptions of family satisfaction, job satisfaction, and flexible work environments. Despite these positive indicators, some degree of role overload was reported, reflecting the challenges teachers face in balancing professional and personal responsibilities. Regarding instructional strategies, teachers moderately to highly utilized differentiated instruction activities and technology-aided instruction, demonstrating their efforts to adapt teaching methods to diverse learner needs and integrate modern tools. Visual strategies were less frequently used but still contributed to student engagement and comprehension. Teachers’ workload management involved frequent participation in non-teaching, support, and administrative duties, highlighting the multifaceted nature of their roles beyond classroom instruction. Correlation analysis using Pearson’s r showed significant positive relationships between work-life balance, instructional strategies, and workload management. These findings suggest that teachers who maintain better work-life balance and employ effective instructional strategies tend to manage their workload more efficiently, underscoring the interconnectedness of these factors in promoting teacher effectiveness and well-being. Multiple regression analysis indicated that role overload, self-appreciation of work, utilization of visual strategies, work-life balance, differentiated instruction activities, and job satisfaction collectively predicted 89% of the variance in teachers’ workload management (R² = 0.890). Notably, while role overload and self-appreciation positively influenced workload management, work-life balance and visual strategies had negative associations, suggesting complex dynamics in how these factors interact. The study concludes that work-life balance and instructional strategies are critical determinants of effective workload management among teachers. These insights highlight the need for school administrators and policymakers to support teachers in achieving a healthy balance between professional and personal life while enhancing their instructional competencies, particularly in visual strategies. It is recommended that targeted interventions be developed to promote teacher well-being and professional development, including workload management programs and training in diverse instructional approaches. Such efforts are essential for sustaining teacher motivation, reducing burnout, and ultimately improving educational outcomes in the Division of Bukidnon. This research contributes valuable knowledge to the field of education by clarifying the complex relationships between personal attitudes, instructional practices, and workload management. It serves as a foundation for future studies and practical initiatives aimed at fostering a supportive and effective teaching environment.
