Abstract
This study aimed to explore the experiences of emergency rescue nurse during Mass Casualty Incidents (MCIs) in Davao Region. Emergency rescue nurses confront with physical and psychological demands, severe resource constraints, and complex ethical dilemmas in providing care amidst chaos. Using a qualitative narrative inquiry approach it aims to understand the real-life stories of emergency rescue nurse during a mass casualty incident. The participant is a registered emergency rescue nurse with at least one year of experience that is selected through purposive sampling. Data was collected through in-depth interview. The study revealed theme such as persistent encountering trauma cases in Samal Island. It suggests that in responding to Mass Casualty Incidents (MCIs), it involves triage and prioritization and make decisions under pressure. The nurse faced significant ethical burdens amidst continuous challenges with resource availability, and communication breakdowns. Experiences underscore significant emotional impact on nurses and the critical need for preparedness and collaboration. The study concludes that effective managing MCIs requires robust preparedness, adequate resources, clear communication, ethical decision-making skills, and strong support for staff resilience.
