Abstract: Arthritis, especially rheumatoid arthritis (RA), is a persistent inflammatory disorder impacting millions globally, leading to joint pain, stiffness, and limited movement. Traditional treatments, like nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), are commonly prescribed but often have side effects such as stomach ulcers, elevated blood pressure, and kidney issues [4]. Recently, there has been an increasing interest in natural remedies that offer relief with fewer adverse effects. Notably, Boswellic acid (from Boswellia serrata) and curcumin (from Curcuma longa) have gained attention for their anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and pain-relieving qualities [1, 2, 5, 6]. This project focused on creating and assessing a topical herbal gel containing Boswellic acid, curcumin, and Aloe vera for arthritis management. The formulation, called ArthoHerb Gel, was crafted to improve the absorption of active ingredients through the skin while providing a calming and moisturizing effect. The gel was formulated using Carbopol 940 as the gelling agent, and the active components were extracted using solvent-based and heat-assisted techniques to ensure maximum effectiveness. The final product was tested for physicochemical properties, including pH, viscosity, spreadability, and skin compatibility. The findings indicated that ArthoHerb Gel had a pH of 5.5–6.0, making it appropriate for skin application, and a viscosity of 7.862P, ensuring a smooth and uniform texture. The gel also exhibited excellent spreadability (20 g cm/sec), facilitating easy application, and showed no signs of skin irritation during testing, confirming its safety for topical use [7, 9, 10]. The combination of Boswellic acid and curcumin in the gel provided a synergistic effect in alleviating joint inflammation and pain, making it a promising natural alternative to traditional NSAIDs [3, 11, 12]. In summary, ArthoHerb Gel represents a safe and effective herbal formulation for arthritis relief, offering a natural alternative to conventional treatments. Further research, including clinical trials, is necessary to confirm its efficacy and explore its long-term benefits. This study underscores the potential of plant-based therapies in managing chronic inflammatory conditions like arthritis, offering hope for patients seeking safer and more sustainable treatment options.
