Abstract
This research paper presents the development of a permanent magnetic suspension system (PMSS) designed to generate electricity through vehicular motion. Unlike traditional electromagnetic suspension systems that require external power sources, the proposed system harvests energy from vibrations caused by speed breakers and road conditions. The developed model consists of neodymium magnets and copper windings, with a system weight of 3.2 kg. Experimental results demonstrate a voltage generation of 18V DC, sufficient for charging a 12V battery, and the ability to bear a load of 167.31 kg. Efficiency analyses reveal a mechanical-to-electrical conversion rate of 74%. The proposed system eliminates reliance on hydraulic suspension, reduces CO2 emissions, and offers a sustainable solution for automotive energy harvesting. Compared to piezoelectric and thermoelectric energy harvesting technologies, which have lower efficiency and higher complexity in vehicular applications, the PMSS provides a simpler and more robust alternative. Unlike kinetic energy recovery systems (KERS), which require intricate mechanical linkages, this system operates with minimal friction and maintenance, making it more practical for long-term use in various transportation systems
