Abstract
This study aims to explore the challenges faced by parents of kindergarten learners in their exercise of child parenting and the impact of these challenges on the development of their children. Specifically, it focuses on the parents’ educational attainment, occupation, and monthly family income and their relationship to the parenting practices employed within the context of the child’s development program. The study further investigates the significant relationship between these parental factors and the level of involvement in parenting, focusing on personal, social, emotional, mental, and spiritual development of children. A descriptive correlational research design was employed Data were collected through a survey questionnaire that assessed parental involvement and the problems encountered by parents, along with their demographic profiles. The findings revealed that the highest educational attainment of both father and mother had a moderate negative correlation with the level of exercise of child parenting, indicating that higher educational attainment was associated with a lower level of difficulty in parenting practices. Conversely, the monthly family income showed a strong negative correlation, suggesting that higher income was associated with more effective and involved parenting. Problems such as lack of time, guidance, and discipline were also identified as significant challenges faced by parents. The study concludes that parental education and income levels are pivotal factors influencing child development, with implications for creating school-initiated program to address parenting challenges.
