Abstract
Cholera remains a significant public health threat in Ghana, particularly during outbreaks, due to its rapid transmission through contaminated water and food sources. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the epidemiological trends, response strategies, and challenges associated with the cholera outbreak in Ghana from October 2024 to January 2025. The research examines the distribution of cases across affected regions, the effectiveness of public health interventions, and the impact of vaccination campaigns in controlling disease spread. Data were obtained from official national health surveillance reports, hospital records, and environmental assessments conducted during the outbreak. Findings from this study highlight critical areas requiring urgent attention, including inadequate access to clean drinking water, poor sanitation infrastructure, and gaps in community health education. Despite ongoing intervention efforts, the study underscores the need for a more integrated and proactive approach to cholera prevention, focusing on sustainable water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) initiatives, enhanced surveillance mechanisms, and expanded vaccination programs. Strengthening healthcare facilities and improving rapid response capabilities will be essential in mitigating the impact of future cholera outbreaks in Ghana.
