Abstract
In the pharmaceutical industry, nanoparticle drug delivery systems have been a game-changer by providing therapeutic agents with a precise and regulated release. The many facets of nanoparticle-based drug delivery are examined in this review article, which starts with an overview of their importance in improving drug solubility, bioavailability, and targeting certain tissues or cells. These technologies have the potential to overcome biological barriers, minimize adverse effects, and enhance therapeutic efficacy. But issues including possible toxicity, expensive manufacturing, and regulatory barriers continue to be major worries. We outline the optimal properties of nanoparticles, including the right dimensions, form, surface charge, and biocompatibility. Different kinds of nanoparticles are discussed, emphasizing their special qualities and uses, such as metallic nanoparticles, polymeric nanoparticles, liposomes, and dendrimers. The benefits and drawbacks of several nanoparticle synthesis techniques, including solvent evaporation, coacervation, and electrospinning, are examined in detail. Evaluation methods for evaluating the size distribution, shape, and drug loading effectiveness of nanoparticles are also reviewed. Moreover, the stability of nanoparticles during storage is discussed, which is a crucial issue affecting their clinical application. The article concludes by highlighting the various ways that drug delivery systems utilizing nanoparticles have been used to treat infectious diseases, cancer, and chronic ailments, highlighting how these systems have the potential to revolutionize contemporary therapies. This thorough analysis seeks to shed light on recent developments as well as potential future paths for nanoparticle drug delivery systems, opening the door for creative treatment approaches.
