This study has been taken to investigate the impact of socio-economic status of parents on the academic achievement of students of government and private schools. Primary data is used for the analysis purpose. The recent studies show there is a significant relationship between socio-economic status and students’ academic achievement. The study has taken sample size of 100 respondents from district Poonch (J&K), to understand the socioeconomic status of parents. The results in this study suggest there is significant relation between socio-economic status and students’ academic achievement. This study also found significant disparity in terms of educational attainment economic status of parents and its impact on students’ academic achievement across the social categories in government and private schools.
