Dental anxiety is a prevalent condition that significantly impacts patient's willingness to seek dental care, leading to poor oral health outcomes. This systematic review aims to assess how effective Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques are in helping people manage their fear of going to the dentist. We searched multiple databases, like PubMed and the Cochrane Library, to find relevant studies published up to December 2023. Inclusion criteria focused on randomized controlled trials and observational analysis evaluating the impact of CBT on dental anxiety in various populations. The research shows that CBT techniques, such as positive self-talk, relaxation training, and exposure response prevention are effective and improve patient compliance compared to traditional methods. The review highlights the need for dental practitioners to incorporate CBT into their practice as a viable alternative to pharmacological interventions. In conclusion, CBT demonstrates a promising approach to managing dental anxiety, warranting further research to explore its long-term effects and applicability across diverse populations.
