Addiction to digital devices has become a major problem that is affecting many individuals across the globe. This study addresses the increasing concern over digital addiction among children by designing a clay-based board game aimed at providing a tangible, interactive alternative to digital devices. The board game, titled “Clay Kingdom,” integrates educational and recreational elements to foster creativity, decision-making skills, imagination and social interaction, thereby reducing screen time. Though a mixed methods approach of product and game design is used, the project involved iterative design, prototyping, and user testing with a sample of 43 participants. Results show a significant decrease in screen time and increased engagement in physical and social play among children- while playing the game. This study demonstrates the potential of clay-based board games, and hands-on gaming experiences in combating digital addiction, highlighting the importance of incorporating tactile and interactive elements into children’s activities to promote balanced and healthy lifestyles.
