Abstract
This study examines the effectiveness of sports coaching management at Pangasinan State University (PSU), focusing on the impact of coaching leadership styles, strategies, resource availability, and professional development on athlete performance and motivation. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research gathered data through surveys and interviews from athletes and coaches to provide a comprehensive analysis. The results indicate that transformational leadership, characterized by motivation through a shared vision, and situational leadership, where the coach adapts to athlete needs, were the most effective in enhancing athlete development. Coaching strategies such as technical training and tactical decision-making were strongly correlated with team success, while strict discipline showed limited impact. The study also highlights significant challenges related to limited training facilities, outdated equipment, and insufficient financial support, which hinder coaches' ability to manage teams effectively. Additionally, coaches who participated in professional development programs were rated higher in terms of effectiveness. Based on these findings, the study recommends increased investment in coaching development, improved resource allocation, and better coordination between academic and athletic departments to support student-athletes.
