Abstract
A common eye ailment, allergic conjunctivitis, is characterized by inflammation of the conjunctiva brought on by allergens such as dust, mites, pollen, pet dander, or certain chemicals. This inflammation results in redness, stinging, tearing, and swelling, all of which are quite unpleasant. It can be perpetual, meaning that it lasts all year round as a result of ongoing exposure to allergens, or seasonal, happening during particular allergy peaks. While Perennial Allergic Conjunctivitis (PAC) is caused by indoor allergens, Seasonal Allergic Conjunctivitis (SAC) is associated with specific seasons of allergens. More severe Vernal Keratoconjunctivitis (VKC) affects young males in warm regions; symptoms include mucous discharge, acute itching, and conjunctival papillae. GPC, or giant papillary conjunctivitis, is common in those who wear soft contact lenses. When conventional treatments fail, sublingual immunotherapy or SLIT offers a promising alternative. According to studies, about 16% of SAC patients have major disturbances, with severe incidents that affect slumber. The severity of various forms of allergic conjunctivitis varies; among patients, GPC often has the lowest percentage, whereas PAC tends to occur more frequently than other types.
