*Abstract** Technology and dermatological science have come a long way since the crude application of ultraviolet, infrared (IR),and visible light in skincare and cosmetic products. It entails a systematic analysis of their modes, merits, demerits and utilities to provide an in-depth understanding. It reviews available research and addresses key questions related to the effects of these radiations on skin health, which includes how they contribute to photodamage or photo-aging; what are their potential hazards; and where should future investigations focus.
