Abstract
The inclusion of diverse genders in workspaces with equal rights and workplace safety has been a long standing fight across the globe. This paper delves into the multifaceted challenges faced by LGBTQ individuals in the Indian workplace context and explores strategies for creating more inclusive environments. Drawing on a diverse range of sources, including legal documents, reports, surveys, and case studies, the study sheds light on the discrimination, prejudice, and barriers hindering LGBTQ individuals' employment opportunities and career advancement. It examines the legal landscape surrounding LGBTQ rights in India, highlighting landmark judgments such as the decriminalization of homosexuality in 2018. Furthermore, the research analyzes the economic implications of LGBTQ exclusion, emphasizing the potential for significant GDP loss and the emergence of the "pink economy.” Through a comprehensive examination of workplace challenges, including hiring discrimination, promotion barriers, and microaggressions, the study underscores the urgent need for organizations to foster inclusive environments free from discrimination and bias.
