Abstract
This study presents the synthesis, structural analysis, and biological evaluation of twelve new aldehyde derivatives combining Morpholine and Thiazolidinone scaffolds. The compounds, purified through column chromatography or recrystallization and tested for their antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. Specifically, compounds 7c, 7d, 7f, and 7k demonstrated significant antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, with MICs comparable to reference standard. Chloro-substituted benzaldehyde derivatives exhibited enhanced activity against certain bacterial strains. Several compounds also outperformed the reference drug Nystatin in antifungal activity against Aspergillus Niger, and compounds 7e, 7f, 7k, and 7l showed similar effectiveness against Candida albicans. Antioxidant assessments revealed substantial DPPH inhibition, particularly in compounds 7f, 7h, 7i, 7j, and 7l, comparable with standard drug efficacy at higher doses. These findings suggest the potential of these compounds in treating oxidative stress and microbial infections, warranting further investigation into their mechanisms and therapeutic applications, along with possible chemical structure optimization for enhanced potency.
