Abstract
Background: Massage and touch can be a powerful and effective tool for helping women during childbirth. Massage during labour is proven to decrease the chances of postpartum complications. It also provides emotional support and reassurance and decreases fear and anxiety. Massages help improve oxytocin levels. Modern and scientific evidence supports the use of massage during labour. Methodology: A quantitative evaluative approach was adopted using a Quasi-experimental post-test-only control group design. Data was collected from 40 parturients who were selected based on a convenience sampling technique considering both inclusion and exclusion criteria using a structured interview schedule alongside a pain scale. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data collected. Results: The study's findings concluded that circular hip massage is effective on pain during the first stage of labour among parturients. The study recommends that nurses and midwives be motivated to utilize the evidence sought from research in practice.
