Abstract
The twenty-first century is the century of information technology, software, abilities and innovations. Every field is benefiting from this and applauding it. Numerous functions and uses of different soft goods can be found in the fields of education, agriculture, industries, medicine, and astrology. There are two categories of soft goods. Open and commercial are the first two. Both have benefits and drawbacks. Institutions, businesses, and industries can all benefit from commercial software. But students, researchers, and educators cannot afford these. Commercial software has price restrictions, license renewal requirements, user copy restrictions, and pirated copy restrictions, particularly in the field of geographic research. The usage of commercial software is restricted in rural locations, among unskilled students, and by researchers' financial difficulties.
