This study aimed to explore and understand the experiences of parents who lost a child through suicide. The study used qualitative, descriptive-phenomenological method. A purposive sample of 12 parents were interviewed. Using Colaizzi's (1978) phenomenological method of analysis, 90 significant statements were identified, and 12 themes emerged. The experiences of parents who lost a child a child through suicide included: seeking meanings in the shadows of pain and confusion, being covered with complicated grief, and lingering pain. Their means of coping are focused on faith and belief in God, emotional support from significant people, and self-help coping. The insights that parents wanted to share with their fellow survivors and the community in general were engaging in therapeutic communication, changing family dynamics, and leaning on social support. These findings potentially inform the need for compassionate and effective support systems and interventions for parents, individuals, and communities affected by suicide-loss.
