Abstract

Accurately estimating health insurance coverage levels is critical for ensuring equitable access to healthcare services and optimizing insurance plan offerings. Traditional methods often fall short in addressing the inherent uncertainties and complexities associated with diverse patient populations and variable healthcare needs. This paper presents an innovative approach to health insurance coverage estimation using fuzzy logic techniques. Fuzzy logic, with its capability to handle imprecision and model complex relationships, offers a robust framework for enhancing coverage estimation accuracy. We develop a fuzzy logic-based model that integrates various parameters, including age, health status indicators and occupation risk to produce a nuanced estimation of coverage levels. By employing membership functions and fuzzy inference systems, the model accommodates the vagueness and ambiguity typically found in real-world data, providing more reliable and flexible coverage predictions. Our approach is validated through a comprehensive case study involving a large dataset from a regional health insurance provider. The results demonstrate significant improvements in coverage estimation accuracy compared to conventional methods, highlighting the model's potential to support more informed decision-making in health insurance planning and policy development. This research underscores the value of fuzzy logic in addressing complex estimation challenges and paves the way for future advancements in health insurance analytics.
