Drug repurposing is also known as Drug repositioning and drug profiling, The drug repurposing has various applications in the development of various new drug formulations for the treatment of different diseases. The drug repurposing method is more prominent as compared to the traditional drug discovery. The drug repurposing method has been accelerated by implementing selected techniques like in-silico methods and structural-based drug design. The drug repurposing has two types of strategies, depending upon their pharmacological mechanism i .e either its pharmacological action is known or unknown. By using on-target profiles and off-target profiles many more drugs have been reprofiling and repurposed. It includes the different approaches based on the quality quantity, biological and pharmacological data available. The current review article highlighted the basic information of bromocriptine along with their mechanism of action in the treatment of disorders associated with type 2 diabetes. Further more bromocriptine has various, uses and pharmacological properties which give therapeutic effects in selected disorders. The drug repurposing techniques could be helpful in the development of drug targets, and it address its potency in the design of new drugs.
