Abstract

Article 19 (1)(a) has widened its scope for artistic expression of thoughts through media like films, web series, documentaries, coverage etc,. The examples are the new Tanishq Advertisement, the Padmavati column, or even the capture of a few writers and understudy activists are cases that are new in everybody's memory. In its many structures, Censorship appears to have multiplied further, effectively by individuals or effectively, by political foundations, into the existence of Indian residents. We see a whirlwind of tweets calling content makers 'hostile to the public', 'rebellious', or even 'enemies of India.' The main aim of the study is to analyse the impact of censorship over artistic freedom of every individual. The Research method followed here is empirical research. A total of 200 samples have been taken out of which is taken through a convenient sampling method. The Data are collected through a questionnaire. The sample frame from where the data were collected in public places of Chennai. The independent variables taken here are age, gender, educational qualification, occupation and marital status. The dependent variables are censorship policies that suppress the artistic freedom of expression, outcomes of limiting them, sarcastic expression of political contents that are offending rather than criticising, creative depiction of political issues caused by political pressure and censorship prevent the exposure of reality to the public. The statistical tool employed here is percentage analysis. The primary sources are taken from the general public in the form of survey methods. The information was collected from secondary sources from journals, articles, books and reports of the presidency and non-governmental organisations. From this study, it is found that most of the respondents strongly believe that censorship policies are suppressing the artistic freedom of expression which are exercised through movies and related arts. It is the beauty of an art, it has the power to change and reform society by spotlighting social and political issues.
