Abstract

This essay examines the critical issue of preventing ragging in educational institutions. Ragging, often dismissed as a rite of passage, poses significant threats to the mental and physical health of students. Through a comprehensive analysis, this paper explores the various dimensions of ragging, its impact on victims, and the role of preventive measures in fostering a safe and inclusive learning environment.This abstract explores the imperative of preventing ragging in educational institutions, recognizing it as a pervasive issue that undermines the very essence of a conducive learning environment. Ragging, a disturbing initiation practice, inflicts physical and psychological harm upon new students, jeopardizing their well-being and hindering academic pursuits. The repercussions extend beyond the individual victims, impacting the overall ethos of educational communities.The essay investigates the multifaceted dimensions of ragging, tracing its roots and manifestations while emphasizing the urgency of adopting preventive measures. By analyzing the detrimental effects of ragging on victims’ mental health and academic engagement, the abstract underscores the significance of eradicating this menace. The narrative emphasizes the collective responsibility of institutions in creating a secure space that nurtures learning and personal growth.In 2001, the Supreme Court banned ragging across India. Guidelines- Setting up proctoral committees to prevent ragging and internally address complaints against ragging. Ragging if it becomes unmanageable or amounts to a cognizable offence the same may be reported to the police.The aim of the research to to prevent ragging in educational institutions.
