Abstract
Teacher plays an important role in shaping individual and society by teaching them and their teaching competency is essential for effective education. Skilled teacher create engaging learning, environments, tailor instruction to divers students needs and foster critical thinking and problem solving skills. They inspire and motivate students, ensuring academic success and personal growth. However it is also important for teachers to maintain their own health and psychological well being. So, that they can contribute their best to the society. Psychological well being refers to a state of optimal mental health and functioning. It encompasses various aspects of a person's psychological state, including their emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and overall subjective experience of life. It affects how we think, feel and act, influencing our relationships, work performance and physical health. The main focus of this study was to investigate the relationship between psychological well being and teaching competency among secondary school teachers. A sample of 100 teachers (50 male and 50 female) were selected through Stratified Random Sampling Method from 13 different secondary schools of Lucknow District. Data is collected with the help of two different standardized scale: the psychological well being scale given by D.S.Sisodia and Pooja Choudhary and the general teaching competency scale given by B.K.Passi and M.S.Lalitha. A descriptive method of research was employed, and the data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, t test, and correlation. The result shows low positive correlation between psychological well being and teaching competency of secondary school teachers Additionally, there is no significance difference between psychological well being of male and female teachers.
