Abstract: Literature is an accumulation of written works that created in a specific language, country, or location, or during a given time. Indian American literature has created an impact on both the Indian and American literary landscapes, encouraging people to understand and appreciate their common histories and cultures. It also adds to discussions about multiculturalism, immigration, and development. A novel is a large fictional narrative prose work that is usually published as a book. It provides a rich and imaginative depiction of characters, situations, and events, frequently delving into themes and concerns regarding human experiences, emotions, and relationships. As an immigrant writer, Bharati Mukherjee's unique perspective allowed her to delve into the complexities of these topics, challenging stereotypes and providing insightful commentary on the human experience. The character of Jasmine's personal journey, including the challenges that she faces while she attempts to find her place in a new world. The novel highlights the difficulties of preserving one's cultural identity while adjusting to a new setting. Jasmine's novel demonstrates the difficulty of incorporating her Indian heritage with her new life in the United States. The paper primary focuses on the themes of identity and belonging, as experienced by the character Jasmine.
