My research paper, “ Emergence of Right-wing Governments in Europe: analysing it’s implications for India” examines the recent rising popularity of right-wing parties in Europe and how their rise to power in forming government, affects their relationship with India. This research paper, first dives into deciphering, what right-wing ideologies are. How are they different from right-wing populism and the relationship between the two. It further talks about the different types of right-wing ideologies in European politics. The paper then examines the history of right-wing parties in Europe, their recent rise, and the reasons behind it. After this, the paper includes two individual case studies. The first one discusses Geert Wilders party, “party for Freedom(PVV)” win in the recent Dutch election and, if his party is able to form a coalition government, how will it impact India’s diplomatic relations with the Netherlands? The second case study explores India’s booming relationship with Italy, after Giorgia Meloni, the leader of the right-wing party, “brothers of Italy”, became the prime minister of Italy in October of 2022. Overall, the research paper provides a comprehensive analysis of rising right-wing populism in Europe, and how it will affect the economic, cultural, military, and political relations with India.
