Abstract
The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in the pharmaceutical industry has garnered significant attention due to its potential to revolutionize drug discovery, development, and manufacturing processes. This review article provides a comprehensive overview of the current landscape of AI applications in pharmaceuticals, highlighting both the opportunities and challenges associated with its implementation. First, we discuss the role of AI in drug discovery, including virtual screening, molecular modeling, and target identification. We examine how AI-driven approaches can accelerate the identification of novel drug candidates, optimize lead compounds, and predict drug-target interactions with enhanced accuracy and efficiency. Next, we explore the applications of AI in drug development, focusing on clinical trial optimization, patient stratification, and biomarker discovery. We assess how AI algorithms can streamline clinical trial design, predict patient responses to treatments, and identify potential biomarkers for personalized medicine approaches. Furthermore, we investigate the utilization of AI in pharmaceutical manufacturing, encompassing process optimization, quality control, and supply chain management. We analyze how AI-powered technologies can enhance manufacturing efficiency, ensure product quality, and optimize supply chain operations to meet growing demands. Despite the promising opportunities presented by AI in pharmaceuticals, several challenges must be addressed to realize its full potential. These challenges include data quality and availability, regulatory considerations, ethical concerns, and the need for interdisciplinary collaboration. We provide insights into these challenges and offer recommendations for overcoming them to facilitate the successful integration of AI in the pharmaceutical industry.
