Abstract
Increased attacks on commercial vessels passing through the Bab-el-Mandeb strait by Houthi rebels in Yemen have caused the Red Sea Crisis, which has disrupted the world's maritime trade. The essence of the crisis is summarized in this abstract, which also discusses the problem's origins, economic effects, and strategic importance. There are noticeable repercussions from industry heavyweights like Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd stopping freight transit, including increased shipping prices and longer delivery times as ships divert around the Cape of Good Hope. The worldwide supply chains are affected by these interruptions, which heightens worries about possible inflationary pressures. Additionally, the crisis reveals geopolitical complexities and underlying regional conflicts, making efforts to restore peace more difficult. The intricacy of the problem at hand is highlighted by the important stakeholders' lack of coordinated response, including the US, the EU, and regional players. Diplomatic moves are essential to resolve the situation since marine security is under jeopardy.
