Abstract

The research aims to study if ‘remuneration’ as a tool can increase employee performance in a tea estate – specific to the Gulma tea estate. The research used structured questionnaires to collect responses and draw information from the secondary data sourced from the Gulma tea estate. The critical contribution of the research is that a positive correlation was found between remuneration and employee performance. The remuneration paid to the tea garden employee is essentially basic, as mandated by the competent authority with no scope for improvement. In such a scenario, a delta change in the remuneration augments productivity in the employees. This research results will help the management to strategize production to achieve the targets. Most importantly, this study can help other tea gardens to strategize the right path forward to optimize their production capacity.
