Abstract
This study examined the impact of social media on attitudes and behaviors related to domestic violence among college students. The sample consisted of 657 students from the North Eastern Mindanao State University-Cantilan Campus in the Philippines. A researcher-made questionnaire was used to gather data on social media exposure, attitudes towards domestic violence, beliefs about the effectiveness of social media interventions, and personal experiences or observations related to domestic violence. The findings revealed that frequent social media use was associated with more positive attitudes, increased awareness, stronger behavioral intentions, and greater perceived social support in relation to domestic violence. The choice of social media platform also influenced attitudes and support, with Facebook users displaying more positive attitudes and higher levels of perceived social support compared to users of other platforms. Additionally, the level of engagement with social media content played a role, as individuals who engaged more frequently exhibited higher levels of attitudes, awareness, behavioral intentions, and perceived social support related to domestic violence. These findings highlight the potential of social media as a tool for raising awareness and promoting positive attitudes towards domestic violence. They also emphasize the importance of platform-specific strategies and active engagement with social media content in shaping individuals' perceptions and intentions. The implications of these findings suggest that organizations and individuals can leverage
