Practicing use of different kind of pesticides has been routine nowadays to gain more productivity and to avoid economical loss. Mangifera indica is one of the major economical crop of Gir region of Saurashtra, Gujarat. It is also exported in different countries of the world. To obtain excess fruits, the extensive use of chemicals like accentuators and pesticides has become a common practice. The present study focuses on the adverse effects of the chemical pesticides on the indigenous microbial flora of soil. Microbial flora is responsible for food chains and food webs of soil. Sustenance of indigenous microbial flora is important for the microbial ecology and microbial diversity. Microorganisms are also involved in process of bioremediation of pesticides is to be studied. Aim of the study is to bring awareness for microbial biodiversity and its significance.
