Abstract
India is a nation famous for its diversity in terms of languages, culture, food, and socio-economic status. Every child is not so fortunate to get an education in India because of various reasons like Gender differences, financial problems, family background, socio-cultural identities (like scheduled caste, scheduled tribes and other backward classes), or some disabilities in children, etc. NEP 2020 aims to benefit every child in India so that no child is left behind in education. Among the various chapters of NEP 2020: - Chapter 6 of “NEP 2020 describes “Equitable and Inclusive Education: Learning for All” and Chapter 14 of NEP 2020 describes: Equity and Inclusion in higher education. The objective of the study is to highlight the policies of NEP 2020 for ensuring equity in education through barrier-free access to education for disabled children; providing incentives to encourage parents to send their children, especially girl children to school; giving education in regional language or mother tongue, etc. and promoting a feeling of respect for diversity and the local context. The present study also aims to bring out the difference between NEP 2020 and NPE 1986 based on equity and inclusive education. In the end, the study presents Mahamana’s vision of bringing equity in education as he was in support of women’s education. This is a descriptive study based on secondary data. The study concludes with how NEP 2020 helps in promoting equity in diversity and what are the benefits of equity in education.
