The present study was conducted to assess the “effect of structured teaching program on knowledge regarding neonatal jaundice among antenatal mothers in selected hospitals at perinthalmanna” Objectives: Assess the level of knowledge regarding neonatal jaundice among antenatal mothers, Evaluate the effect of structured teaching program on knowledge regarding neonatal jaundice among antenatal mothers, Find the association between pretest level of knowledge regarding neonatal jaundice among antenatal mothers with their selected demographic and obstetric variables. Methodology: The quantitative approach was used and the study design was quasi experimental pre-test post-test control group design. The study was based on modified Nola J Pender’s health promotion model(2002). Out of 80 samples 40 were selected for control group and 40 for experimental by using non-probability convenient sampling technique. Demographic variables, obstetrical variables, structured knowledge questionnaire were used for data collection. Pretest was done on the day of data collection and post test was done after 2 weeks for control group in Ramdas Clinic at Perinthalmanna and pretest was conducted for experimental group and posttest followed by structured teaching program after 2 weeks in Perinthalmanna Nursing Home at Perinthalmanna. The pilot study was done with 8 samples to determine the feasibility of the study. Actual study was conducted from 13/7/2020 to 8/8/2020. The data collected were analyzed and tabulated by using descriptive and inferential statistics. Result : The study findings revealed that the mean pretest level of knowledge score of experimental group was 6.55 with standard deviation of 2.41 and mean post test score was 15.88 with standard deviation of 3.84. The obtained paired t value is 15.927. The p value was <0.001 and it was highly significant at 0.05 level after structured teaching program. The mean posttest level of knowledge score of the experimental group was 15.88 with standard deviation 3.84 and the mean posttest level of knowledge score of control group was 6.93 with standard deviation 1.58. The obtained unpaired t value is 13.625. The p value was <0.001 and it was highly significant at 0.05 level which indicates that the structured teaching program was effective in improving level of knowledge regarding neonatal jaundice among antenatal mothers. The result also revealed that there was a significant association between the pretest level of knowledge of antenatal mothers and previous source of information. Conclusion: The study concluded that structured teaching program was very effective in improving knowledge regarding neonatal jaundice among antenatal mothers.
