Abstract: The book ‘The Time machine’ is one of the greatest science fiction work of H. G. Wells considering time as the fourth dimension of any object, the other three dimensions being the fundamentals – the length, the width and the height. The author has written this book back in the year 1895, where people had no or little knowledge about time as a critical factor along with the other three dimensions. The world actually started to believe and consider time as a dimension twenty years later in 1905, when Albert Einstein published his publication ‘Theory of relativity of time’. This shows how Wells added imaginative touches in his books which people were unheard of. Even more startling, in his book ‘A World Set Free’ in 1914, Wells described atomic bombs. These were unheard of and were used much later in World War II in 1945. The author had always been interested in science fiction, and when he began writing it himself, he tried to include in some of his works his political ideas for the perfect society of the future. In ‘The Time Machine’ book, the author’s Time traveller seeks that ideal civilization. This book has fourteen chapters. The author has shown the future world and the end of the world in his perspective. Though it is impossible to travel in time, the author has beautifully set up the story of a time traveller, his invention, his experiences, his struggles and how he overcomes along his adventurous time travel. The author has created the plot in such a way that the reader can feel and be in the shoes of time traveller experiencing his excitements and traumas during the time travel.
