| Abstract: | This research paper undertakes a thorough examination of the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, to assess its implementation and impact in safeguarding victims of domestic violence. The study aims to critically analyses the strengths and limitations of the legislation, considering its evolution over time and the dynamic nature of domestic violence scenarios. Through a combination of legal analysis, case studies, and interviews with key stakeholders, the research will explore the extent to which the provisions of the Act have been effectively utilized in providing protection to survivors. Special attention will be given to the role of protection officers, the accessibility of support services, and the legal remedies available to victims under the Act. Furthermore, the paper will investigate the challenges faced in the enforcement of the Act, including issues related to awareness, reporting mechanisms, and the coordination among various stakeholders involved in combating domestic violence. Comparative analyses with other similar legislations globally will also be incorporated to provide insights into best practices and potential areas for improvement. As part of its contribution to the discourse on domestic violence prevention, this research aims to offer recommendations for refining the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, and strengthening its implementation to better serve the needs of survivors and contribute to the broader goal of creating a violence-free society. |
