This study investigates the intricacies of health insurance selection in the Lakshadweep Islands, offering a comprehensive analysis of various socio-demographic factors influencing the decision-making process. Health insurance plays a pivotal role in ensuring financial security and access to quality healthcare services. The study employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis of survey data with qualitative insights. The research aims to identify the key factors influencing individuals' decisions regarding health insurance coverage in the Lakshadweep Islands. Factors such as socio-economic status, awareness of available insurance options, perceived health risks, and cultural attitudes towards insurance are examined to understand their impact on the selection process. Drawing on primary survey data, the study reveals a robust correlation between higher education levels and the likelihood of health insurance adoption, highlighting the pivotal role of knowledge and awareness in insurance decision-making. Family type emerges as a significant determinant, with joint families exhibiting a higher propensity for insurance coverage. Surprisingly, occupational factors show no clear association. Geographical variations across islands are observed, indicating the need for nuanced regional strategies. Furthermore, income, age, and health awareness are identified as key influencers, with higher-income individuals, specific age groups, and those attuned to health risks exhibiting a greater likelihood of having insurance. The study employed a binary logistic regression to elucidate impact of factors like perceived health status, income, and age on health insurance decisions.
